ἐπαρκ-έω,
  future -έσω (see. below): Epic dialect aorist infinitive ἐπαρκέσσαι Apollonius Rhodius Epicus 2.1161, compare “IG” 5(1).730.18 :—to be strong enough for a thing, in Homerus Epicus always of cases of danger or injury: 1 . with accusative of things et dative person, ward off something from one, οὐδέ τί οἱ τό γ᾽ ἐπήρκεσε λυγρὸν ὄλεθρον Ilias Homerus Epicus “Illiad” 2.873; οὔτε τι Τηλέμαχος τό γ᾽ ἐπήρκεσεν Odyssea Homerus Epicus “Odyssey” 17.568; οὐδὲν γὰρ αὐτῳ ταῦτ᾽ ἐπαρκέσει τὸ μὴ οὐ πεσεῖν prohibebit quominus.., Aeschylus Tragicus “Prometheus Vinctus” 918.
