__I.2 with future indicative, οὔ σοι μὴ μεθέψομαί ποτε Sophocles Tragicus “Electra” 1052, compare “OC” 176 (Lyric poetry); οὐ μή σ᾽ ἐγὼ περιόψομαι Aristophanes Comicus “Ranae” 508 ; οὐ μὴ δέξονται (variant{δέξωνται}) Xenophon Historicus “Institutio Cyri (Cyropaedia)” 3.2.8: the reading in prev. author “HG” 1.6.32 is doubtful: in indirect speech the opt. is used, ἐθέσπισεν ὡς οὐ μή ποτε πέρσοιεν Sophocles Tragicus “Philoctetes” 611 : or infinitive, εἶπεν.. οὐ μή ποτε.. εὖ πράξειν πόλιν Euripides Tragicus “Phoenissae” 1590.
__II in Prohibition, οὐ μή is used interrogatively with future indicative (chiefly of the 2 pers.) so as to express a strong prohibition, οὐ μὴ 'ξεγερεῖς τὸν ὕπνῳ κάτοχο; ={μὴ ἐξέγειρε}, Sophocles Tragicus “Trachiniae” 978 (anap.) ; οὐ μὴ προσοίσεις χεῖρα μηδ᾽ ἅψῃ πέπλων ; Euripides Tragicus “Hippolytus” 606, compare Aristophanes Comicus “Nubes” 296, “Ra.” 298.—The prohibition is changed into a direct command by ἀλλά or δέ, οὐ μὴ λαλήσεις ἀλλ᾽ ἀκολουθήσεις ἐμο; prev. author “Nu.” 505, compare “Ra.” 202, 462, 524, Euripides Tragicus “Bacchae” 792 ; οὐ μὴ προσοίσεις χεῖρα βακχεύσεις δ᾽ ἰών; prev. work 343, compare “Med.” 1151, “El.” 383.
__II.2 later οὐ μὴ ἐμπέσω let me not fall, LXX.2Ki.24.14.
__II.3 in questions, οὐ μή, = Latin nonne, ὁ θεὸς οὐ μὴ ποιήσῃ τὴν ἐκδίκησιν τῶν ἐκλεκτῶν αὐτοῦ ; NT.Luke.18.7.
__III in Aeschylus Tragicus “Septem contra Thebas” 250, οὐ σῖγα μηδὲν τῶνδ᾽ ἐρεῖς κατὰ πτόλιν ; seems to mean keep silent and say nothing.., σῖγα being short for σιγήσει and καὶ being omitted: similarly, οὐ σῖγ᾽ ἀνέξει, μηδὲ δειλίαν ἀρῇ; submit silently and do not play the coward, Sophocles Tragicus “Ajax” 75, compare “Tr.” 1183, “OT” 637, Euripides Tragicus “Hippolytus” 498, “Hel.” 437, Plato Philosophus “Symposium” 175a.
