προφητεύω (< προφήτης), [in LXX chiefly for נבא H5012 ni., hith.;] to be a προφήτης (q.v.), to prophesy: in the primary sense of telling forth the Divine counsels, Mt 7:22 26:68, Mk 14:65, Lk 1:67 22:64, Ac 19:6, I Co 11:4, 5 13:9 14:1, 3-5, 24, 31, 39, Re 11:3; with the idea of foretelling future events (an idea merely incidental, not essential; v. Lft., Notes, 83 f.), Mt 11:13, Ac 2:17, 18(LXX) 21:9; seq. περί, Mt 15:7, Mk 7:6, I Pe 1:10; ἐπί, c. dat., Re 10:11; λέγων, Ju 14; ὅτι, Jo 11:51.†
