Samenvatting

Based on decades of painstaking, collaborative research, this volume claims a historic breakthrough in understanding the Gospel of Luke, that is, that Luke systematically and respectfully used sequences of material from the canonical Gospel of Matthew in writing his own Gospel.
Contrary to the conventional scholarly opinion, the international research team that produced this study argues that there is no need to suppose that Luke made any use of the Gospel of Mark or the hypothetical Gospel ''Q''. The volume thus takes Gospel studies beyond the theological impasse precipitated by the Q hypothesis toward a more rational understanding of Gospel-making activity of the earliest Christian generation.
